Hi, all.
I'm relocating to naga@octodon.social . @NFGuide has indicated he's contemplating shutting down the instance. As great and welcoming as he's been, I'd already been planning to move to a larger instance, if for no other reason than for hashtag searching to work better!
I'll boost this occasionally over the next few days to catch different time zones.
I'm Naga. A statistical consultant by training and trade, but more here for general social interaction, especially geeky, sometimes sexy/kinky, and occasionally left-wing political. Oh, and new-dad stuff. Dragonlet is my toddler, Jalan is my wife.
I'm not new here, but updating my pinned toots.

I once played #yukiomishima in a #Riverworld RPG. The premise is that after death you wake up in a secondary world in your 25yo body.
Poor Mishima was horrified!
Complicating the scenario was that someone else was playing Joan of Arc.
Yukio developed a terrible crush on Shaka Zulu... 😂

Now, to me the image would still be good with only the first 4 panels.
But it's that 5th one that makes it transcend into greatness.
Hey people of Mastodon!
I have just (finally) finished the second draft of my novel, and the daunting task of self-publishing it is looming ever closer.
I've never done it before. If anybody has any advice, or anything they wish they'd known before they did it, I'd love to hear it.
The struggle to even get diagnosed as an adult combined with how little help they’ll offer for the parts I really need help with are why I haven’t bothered trying to seek an “official” diagnosis for autism. However after being inspired by my friend Kimmy, I do plan on identifying as autistic to any medical provider going forward, because according to her they rarely ask for additional documentation which sounds about right to me.
So, I got the official diagnosis today. Doesn't tell me anything I didn't know, but nice to have it official. #actuallyautistic
Also a real learning experience in how fucked up #autism diagnosis actually is. In addition to the issue I mentioned previous--psych wouldn't even discuss autism until I told him how a diagnosis would benefit me (WTF!?), the diagnostic criteria are messed up.

@maloki well you see, when a planet's inertia and a gravity well love each other very much
@zephasaurus_hex @lapis "Never enough reading time" will do just fine on my tombstone, thank you!
I buy flowers for Jalan the 13th of every month--it's a commemoration.
Except for February (Valentine's) and May (US Mother's Day).
Those months, when I'm on game, she gets two bunches, one early and one late.
Buying flowers on the way home from coffee today.
I'm so excited by the #BookClubs I've seen, both currently running and ones people are thinking they might start. If you're looking for one, here are some suggestions. And feel free to let me know if you have one I missed or you're interested in starting one!
Current - #StoryClub #sffBookClub
Upcoming - #WicDivClub
*Potentials *
@Einahpets might start a horror/thriller club
There was interest in a #RomanceBookClub if anyone wants to start it
I'm considering a more general #ComicBookClub
Good morning, friends.
So far, so good, here. The allergy attack of the last two weeks has largely subsided.
Ok, finally saw Avengers. Drastic spoiler-avoidance machinations ended (even with the CW system).
Hello, folks!
Looking for other book clubs to boost. I know about #sffBookClub and #StoryClub since I'm participating in both. Any others to share?
Finished my last book (Paper and Fire by #RachelCaine) last night, so starting #Binti today for #sffbookclub!
This week's #storyclub pick is both a #scifi #HugoAwardFinalist and #LocusAwardFinalist - 'The Martian Obelisk' by Linda Nagata, published by Tor.com. #MartianObelisk
On the proverbial fence about joining #sffbookclub this month? Here's two great things about #binti. First, it's a novella. My kindle app says 96 pages. If you're tight on time, you can fit that in over a few days, right? Second, it's part of a trilogy (that's complete). If the universe there captures you, GOOD NEWS! *spoiler*spoiler*spoiler* :)
@GinnyMcQueen May I DM you about instances? I need to relocate.
A few nominations for June #sffbookclub:
The Tea Master and the Detective by Aliette de Bodard (gender-and-otherwise-bent Holmesian sf novella)
Dawn by Octavia Butler (first in classic Xenogenesis trilogy)
The Original Dream by Nukila Amal (Indonesian literary contemporary fantasy)
